(needs illustrations)

Pyjamas on and ready for bed, but...
'There's a bear in the hall, Dad! There's a bear, there's a bear, right there!'
Dad switches on the hallway light. It's only the coat stand.
'There's no bear, little one, there's no bear.'

Into the hall and up the stairs, but...
'There's a bear on the landing, Dad! There's a bear, there's a bear, right there!'
Dad switches on the landing light. It's only a house plant.
'There's no bear, little one, there's no bear.'

Up the stairs and on to the landing, but...
'There's a bear behind the door Dad! There's a bear, there's a bear, right there!'
Dad switches on the light. It's only a dressing gown.
'There's no bear, little one, there's no bear.'

Into the bedroom, very sleepy, but...
'There's a bear at my window, Dad! There's a bear, there's a bear, right there!'
Dad opens the curtains. It's only a tree.
'There's no, bear little one, there's no bear.'

Time for bed. Pull back the covers, what do we see?
'There's a bear, little one, there's a bear.'
Cuddle up with teddy, snuggle-up tight,
sweet dreams little one, good night.
